Fall Sports Teams Earn Scholastic Awards

Athletics are an important part of Lutheran South, but we never lose sight of the importance of academics for our athletes. Each year, many of our teams are honored by the Missouri High School Athletic Association for their academic excellence, but this year for the first time, all 20 of our fall sports teams earned the MSHSAA Scholastic Achievement Award. Mini Poms Clinic & Performance

The LHSS Lancerettes will host a clinic and performance for girls in grades 1 through 8 at Lutheran South. The clinic is Saturday, Feb. 6 from 1-3 p.m., followed by the performance during halftime of the Junior Varsity boys' basketball game on Thursday, Feb. 11. The game begins at 5:30 p.m. For more information or to register, contact Mrs. Debbie Smith in the LHSS main office, 314-631-1400, by Feb. 1. The cost is $25.

Annual "Sem" Games

Join us for a day of basketball competition and family fun at the annual "Sem Games" on Sat., Feb. 13, featuring the girls' and boys' basketball teams from Lutheran North and Lutheran South. The five games will be played at Maryville University beginning with the freshmen boys’ game at 12:30 p.m. and ending with the Varsity boys' game at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for students, and under 5 free. Students in grades K-8 who wear their school logo apparel will be admitted free! Alumni can enjoy a hospitality room throughout the games followed by an Alumni Reception after the last game. Student Qualifies for Math State

Congratulations to junior Martin Liebmann who qualified for the State Math competition in April with his performance at the GPML contest on January 9.

LHSA Seeks to Fill President Position

The Lutheran High School Association of St. Louis is seeking a President to serve as the chief executive officer of the Association. The Association supports two Lutheran high school in the St. Louis community, Lutheran North and Lutheran South. LHSS Alums in the Armed Services

If you are a Lutheran South alum in the armed services or know someone who is, please contact Mrs. Jayne Lauer at LHSS, 314-631-1400 or jlauer@lhssonline.org. We have a bulletin board dedicated to the those serving and would like to keep it as updated as possible. We also would like to include these men and women in our prayers.

What’s Happening 

Community Open House 

In conjunction with Lutheran schools throughout the St. Louis area, Lutheran South will host a Community Open House on Sunday, February 21, from 1-3 p.m. The Open House is targeted especially to prospective students in 5th, 6th or 7th grade and their families; families with students in other grades are also welcome to attend. For more information, contact Mrs. Jayne Lauer as directed below. (Please note that this is a changed from the previously posted February 7 date.)

Applications for 2010-2011 

The new Lutheran South online application is now live! You may access the link by clicking on the "New Student Registration 2010-2011" button above. If you prefer to have a paper application mailed to you, please contact Mrs. Jayne Lauer as shown below. 

Lancers Live Open Houses 

Anyone interested in learning more about Lutheran South is invited to attend one of our school day open houses called "Lancers Live." Parents may attend alone or bring their child. At Lancers Live, learn how your child can grow in faith, learn for excellence, lead with integrity, and serve the Lord as a student at South; tour LHSS; conclude by attending the 15-minute chapel worship. Lancers Live dates are Fridays from 8:15 - 9:50 a.m. on January 15, February 12, March 12, and April 16, 2010. Reservations are helpful but not required to Mrs. Jayne Lauer. Transfer Students 

Openings are available in all classes at Lutheran South. Interested students may request an application by contacting the LHSS Admissions Office at 314-631-2842, ext. 426. Online applications will be available on December 1. 

Shadow Days 

If you are an eighth grade student or transfer student interested in attending Lutheran High School South, you are invited to schedule a Shadow Day to get a glimpse of what high school can be like for you as a Lancer. Please ask your parents to contact the LHSS Admissions & Community Relations Office at 631-2842, ext. 426. 

I-20 Visa Students 

Lutheran South has been approved to issue I-20 Visas to international students who meet the LHSS admission requirements and wish to enroll. For more information, click here or contact Mrs. Jayne Lauer as listed below.
